3/2/2024 0 Comments Ps4 octodadIt seem as though the co-op in this game is designed to be as frustrating as possible and if you aren’t shouting orders, eye-rolling and cursing then collapsing into laughter then you’re not doing it right. There’s no indication of what you’ll be controlling and it is completely random so whilst a moment ago you were controlling the left leg, now you’re controlling the right arm. This in itself is pretty funny but to make things even more haphazard you can enable ‘roulette mode’ where, each time an objective is completed, the limb or set of limbs you are in control of changes to something else entirely. The co-op play is particularly interesting and introduces something akin to a three-legged race as each player controls an individual limb with support for up to four players. Freeplay mode allows you to revisit any of the locations in the game and pick up any ties you missed or just mess about if you bombed through the storyline too quickly. In each individual level there are 3 collectible ties to find, usually pinned in hard to reach locations or hidden somewhere in the environment, by collecting all 3 of any given level you unlock a tie that Octodad can wear. The game has a small amount of re-playability after completing what turns out to be a fairly short main storyline, it won’t take you much longer than 4 or 5 hours, as it introduces collectible items, freeplay mode and local co-op play. Luckily these moments tend to come later on in the game when you’ve got a very good grasp of the controls and are able to do more ‘complex’ moves like actually walking in a straight line without tripping over yourself. Due to this a large portion of the game is dedicated to stealth especially when it comes to pesky ‘Marine Biologists’ who know an octopus when they see one, which is fair enough I guess. It’s fair to say the game is by no means difficult, but there are areas that will trip you up because you can be instantly detected if you are seen just once. As his anxiety level rises Octodad produces ink that splurts everywhere and rapidly increases the detection meter, when the meter is full then it means he has been discovered and you must restart the level. Octodad gets nervous whenever he’s aware that he’s bumping into things, dropping things, flailing tentacles in people’s faces and climbing up and over children without meaning to. With this bizarre premise in mind you should now prepare yourself for what turns out to be a very entertaining but frustrating game as you frolic through ten levels and six different environments.Īs if things weren’t hard enough already, a meter at the bottom of the screen indicates how much attention you’re drawing to yourself. When you go to grab something you can move your tentacle arm in almost every single direction which makes aiming quite difficult although, helpfully, objects you are targeting acquire a subtle green glow so you know what you’re about to pick up. Each leg is controlled individually and you can switch control from your legs to your arms at the press of a button you cannot control both at the same time. Suddenly, simple tasks like turning off an alarm clock, shopping in the mall or taking your kids to an aquarium become something akin to gentle torture as you attempt to flail each individual limb in a vaguely appropriate manner. Though it has some issues with framerate drops and its approach to control is definitely not for everybody, Dadliest Catch kept a smile on my face for most of its duration. It’s difficult not to laugh as you try and guide Octodad through one area and into another, desperately trying to remain undercover as a sentient sea creature whilst also trying to complete your domestic duties. It exudes a certain weirdness and charm that makes it stand out from a lot of other titles out there, and there are tools in place for it to live on past the point when the credits start to roll. In the end, I would not be surprised to hear that the Octodad community is thriving years down the road. Despite the short length of the campaign, there is enough in place for diehard enthusiasts to keep going for as long as they want. Additionally, each level has a par time to beat, opening it up for potential speed running.Īlso included are Steam Workshop support, so users can create their own levels, and a hilarious cooperative mode that allows up to four players to control one or more limbs, requiring an unusual form of teamwork and resulting in an even more awkward octopus than usual. Each level hides three custom neckties for Octodad to wear, each requiring thorough exploration, tricky climbing, or some interaction with the environment. Alleviating that a bit are some optional objectives for those who want to keep playing.

3/2/2024 0 Comments Onenote sidenotes 2015The newsletter but giving it a purpose.Go ahead and subscribe so you don’t miss out on what is to come! You can see all past newsletters here with more information about the newly revamped e-mails from me newsletter starting up next week. This year I have changed it up, new name, new design, and new purpose. I realized I had no direction or purpose. I felt bad because I have worked hard to make it something of use and inspiring. It turned into work and I simply stopped doing it. In this newsletter I talk about changing things. Well, I actually sent out the rough draft with a 1000 typos, but the damage had already been done. I sent out an email to all my newsletter subscribers. Last year I started out documenting each month with recaps of my monthly goals. I won’t be doing this on my blog, but this will happen naturally with my Bullet Journal so I am excited to see how this develops and impacts my life.Make it fun, don’t make it feel like work which I made it last year.Daily log of events but more structured and organized so it is a benefit and not one more item on the to do list.Even more exciting is that my 9 year old daughter is making one and we had a great evening making and preparing our notebooks. Check out my video here on part 1 of my preparation(part 2 coming soon). I have already started merging ideas from last year to make positive gains in 2016. This is something I have wanted to do for years and this year I am making it happen. Instead I will be using a new modified system where I am building up my own Bullet Journal system. This year I am not buying the 12 month variant color system(but I LOVE them and the look and wish they worked for me). Now, looking back at things the notebook was super powerful and I wish I did not give up on it because so many little life events were captured that would have been lost forever. It started off good, but it fizzled out because it was simply too much with my weekly planner notebook and other notebooks where I scribbled down ideas. Last year I also tried to keep a logbook where I documented things each day. Morphing the Logbook Experiment to Bullet Journal Use another notebook to record ideas, daily insights, book notes, blog ideas, etc(see #2)Ģ.Actually, this year I will be drawing my own template and adding to my Bullet Journal Create a new year goal sheet using Moleskine Template site.Moleskine Weekly Calendar Notebook mixed with Google Calendar. As I go back and watch my 2015 goals for the year I realize that despite not meeting some of the ideas I was pretty successful in the end. I bought one last year that was started in August like school, but now realize that even though that makes sense I am wanting a new start with a new year. I plan on doing the same except this year buying a new Moleksine that starts January 2016 and ends December 2016(of course it is Star Wars themed). With that being said it is helpful and wise to check out your year you just lived, analyze the events, and modify and make new plans to avoid what did not work as well as use what did work.īack on 1/2/15 I posted a blog post( Using Evernote Moleskine Planner To Prepare and Plan in 2015) where I shared how I planned to use my “new” Moleksine Planner to organize my life. I also know from many years of living that I cannot script out my future because so much can happen that I am not able to foresee. There is so much I want to do and after many years I realized that not having a plan means that nothing will get done. I find the process to be a bit cathartic as well as exciting mixed with a small dose of stress and anxiety. As I make plans for 2016 I get stuck so I need to look back at 2015 to see what worked and what sucked. Perhaps you are reading this blog post because you are like me and currently in the same process. A new year is on the horizon and I have been spending time figuring out what 2016 will look like for me. I am just like everyone else on the face of the planet. You know you need to erase the Mac before you pass it on, but before you delete everything there’s some more admin to do first.īefore you begin the process of wiping your Mac it’s worth signing out of the following to avoid headaches later on: If you are lucky enough to have a Mac with Apple silicon, or a Mac with the T2 chip that is all you need to do. If you have a Mac with a T2 chip you should be able to update it to macOS Monterey, or macOS Ventura, and use the Erase All Content and Settings option, which will be simpler than the steps would otherwise be. Which Macs have a T2 chip?Įrase All Content and Settings will work for Intel Macs that have the T2 security chip, these include: Once your Mac restarts you can go through the steps to set it up as new, or you can leave it at this stage for the next owner to set up. Having clicked the second Erase All Content & Settings your Mac will restart. It also removes all the accounts and their data and any volumes you have set up on the Mac–so if you share the Mac with someone else do make sure their stuff is backed up too. If you click on the new Erase All Content and Settings option then everything will be taken care of, including removal of your stored fingerprints for Touch ID and anything in the Wallet app, signing you out of your Apple ID, and turning off Find My and Activation Lock. The new option that arrived in macOS Monterey takes care of a lot of the complicated steps involved in wiping your Mac – as long as it is an M1- or M2-series Mac or one with a T2 chip. If your Mac is older then the steps you need to take are a little more complicated, we’ll run though the steps for older Macs below. It also needs to be running either macOS Monterey or macOS Ventura. However you will need to have a M1-series Mac, M2-series Mac, or a Mac with a T2 chip inside. Thanks to this new “Erase All Content and Settings” option, wiping your Mac so that you can pass it on, sell it, or just because you want to do a clean install in the hope that it will fix issues is quite a simple process. When macOS Monterey was introduced in 2021 Apple added a new option in System Preferences (System Settings as of macOS Ventura) for wiping a Mac and returning it to factory settings. We have a complete guide that explains how to back up a Mac as well as this guide to the best Mac Backup Software. This cloned drive can be re-cloned back to the main drive if you decide to restore your Mac, or it can be used to access all the original files and transfer them and all your settings to your new computer. If you don’t want to use Apple’s free Time Machine software, or you can make a clone of the whole hard drive using a program like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper (both are available as free trials). The best thing about backing up with Time Machine is it makes it really easy to move your data to a new Mac afterwards. This can be done very simply using Apple’s Time Machine software – here’s how to back up using Time Machine. Luckily backing up your Mac is easy to do – as long as you have a external hard drive to use. In these days of working predominantly in the cloud it is an easy mistake to make! Unfortunately you can’t back up everything on your Mac to iCloud. This is because – as you would expect – resetting a Mac to factory settings gets rid of all the data stored on that machine.ĭon’t fall in to the trap we fell into: Because we use iCloud to sync all files across all our Apple devices we assumed that we could just recover everything we needed from the cloud – which was true to a certain extent, but it wasn’t until after we wiped the Mac that we realised that the data for one non-Apple app we used wasn’t in the cloud. Before you do anything you should back up or clone your Mac. If you have a minute, please leave a rating or review in the App Store. For some, it may be a particular regional accent that is so fascinating in its tone that the words or meaning are lost in transmission. We all find some elements of delivery more distracting than others. This is particularly important if the speaker has a speech impediment such as a stammer. PS I Love You is out in the UK on 4th January 2008.With Gerryâs words as her guide, Holly embarks on a touching, exciting and often hilarious journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into new beginning for life. But men, be warned: while many a romantic comedy can be enjoyed by both sexes, this really isn't one of them. Chirpy Swank is likely to divide audiences with her toothy turn as needy Holly, but she's an efficient actress as ever and has decent chemistry with Butler in the flashback scenes. Lisa Kudrow and Harry Connick, Jr add comic bite as Holly's straight-talking friends, the latter so straight-talking he has to take pills for it. Quirky moments like this offset the film's otherwise predictable narrative and mainstream sentimentality. After a slightly awkward opening scene featuring the couple bickering and making up, the film delivers an emotional funeral that's all the more touching for being set in a bar, where each mourner downs a shot for the deceased (he was Irish, although you wouldn't always know that from Gerard Butler's accent). There's nothing like a 'love beyond the grave' theme to bring on the waterworks - just look at Ghost - so if you're the romantic type, PS I Love You is guaranteed to give your hanky a good work out. Thanks to Gerry's missives, Holly learns to get out of the house and get on with life in this soppy but sweet tear-jerker. It turns out he wrote them before he died and has arranged for them to be delivered throughout the year. New Yorker Holly is stunned when she starts receiving letters from Gerry (Gerard Butler). Hilary Swank is a young widow haunted by her dead husband in this sentimental romantic comedy. |
